ECE R152
Overview
The AEBS system can automatically detect potential forward collisions, provide appropriate warnings to the driver, and activate the braking system to slow down the vehicle in case the driver does not respond to the warning to avoid or reduce the severity of the collision. The EU GSR regulation stipulates that all M1 and N1 new models entering the EU market must be equipped with AEBS functions that meet R152 regulations from July 6, 2022. However, automatic emergency braking systems for pedestrians and bicycles can be mandatory for new models from July 7, 2024. The UN R152 regulation mainly establishes unified regulations for the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) on M1 and N1 vehicles used for urban driving conditions. The system should automatically detect potential forward collisions, provide appropriate warnings to the driver, and activate the vehicle's braking system to slow down the vehicle, with the aim of avoiding or reducing the severity of collisions without the driver responding to the warning
