ISO21434

Overview

The purpose of this standard is to reach industry-wide agreements on important cyber security issues and ensure that the entire supply chain has a process that supports design method security. ISO/SAE 21434 applies to road vehicles, including their components, connections, and software. This standard considers the entire development process and lifecycle of the vehicle. This standard also follows the V-shape. All stages of this process must consider safety aspects. In order to manufacture safe vehicles, safety perception needs analysis and product specifications are required. ISO/SAE 21434 does not recommend any specific security technologies or countermeasures solutions. On the contrary, the standard suggests conducting structured threat analysis and risk assessment, which includes separating protection requirements during the iteration process.
